I don't even remember when I got my old flip flops... But it is time for a new pair!

5 dollars, a hay ride, and a pumpkin
Today I went to a pumpkin patch with some friends... I thought I should do something related to Halloween before its over. We took a short little hay ride over to the field and then picked pumpkins. Today was the last day, so farmer Bob (or Bill...) said to take as many pumpkins as we wanted. I got three (one for carving, and two for my work Halloween party). Most of the pumpkins were old and quite squishy. Still, it was fun!

One step closer to Zion
As I was listening to conference, I heard a line in a talk by Dallin H. Oaks... Actually it was from a BYU devotional talk given by Neal A. Maxwell (tried to find the original, but there was only the audio). Elder Oaks says "Where is our ultimate loyalty? Are we like the Christians in Elder Neal A. Maxwell’s memorable description who have moved their residence to Zion but still try to keep a second residence in Babylon?" That is me! I have moved to Zion aka Utah while trying to keep a residence in Babylon! Ok I know California isn't Babylon (well it could be close enough). But really I can't help it. I love CA! Anyways... after a big snafu with my insurance company and the CA DMV I finally had to do it. I registered my car in UT... moving one step closer to Zion.

There may be some hope!
There may be some hope for me living here in Utah afterall! Last Saturday some of my new peeps from my ward invited me to go snow shoeing... We went on the Doughnut falls trail. I actually really liked it. I think it is something I can do here in the winter to get out and have fun, since I'm not one for skiing or snow boarding. So the weirdest thing happens here. There is this thing called inversion and it oddly keeps the cold air trapped below the warmer air. Bad for those in the valleys, but nice for those in the mountains. So the temperature was around 15 degrees warmer up in the mountains. I could actually feel the warmth of the sun which is something I miss dearly during the winter months here. Hope!

MISSNCA
Boy do I... Miss California... I'm not sure that's what the AZ license plate meant to say, but that's what I saw when I read it... If I ever get Utah plates I will have to see if that one is available!

Fish Heads
I went on an outing with my brother and the fam on Saturday and we spent a little time watching the kids fish (by fishing I really mean the kids had poles with no hooks, but they had fun anyways). I put out a chair and sat down and what was looking back at me? A fish head, a rolly polly fish head (insert Dr. Demento song here).

Summer Vacation
I went on a little vacation to a place called Bandera, Texas (hill country). A good friend and I went to a dude ranch. We had a blast. It was all inclusive, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus two trail rides a day, and lots of other fun stuff to do! Meals were served in a little dining hall where we ate (family style) with different people almost every meal. They had a pond and access to fishing poles, a swimming pool, ping pong, tether ball, horse shoes, and nightly entertainment. We had a great time!

Leo
While I was in California I couldn't pass up a trip to the beach! While it was a little chilly for swim suits, we decided to go look at the tide pools at Leo Carrillo. The tide was coming in when we got there but we did find some fun sea life!
